Presented at the last Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas, the GT540 LG (codenamed Swift) has finally arrived. It is the first of a new family of smartphones as Android, called Optimus, the manufacturer announced well supplied by the end of 2010. This entry-level model – thus enjoying a moderate price – is not necessarily devoid of attractions. With full multimedia features, it incorporates a Qualcomm 600MHz processor coupled with 256MB of RAM and a powerful battery of 1500 mAh. Also compatible 3G + and Wi-Fi, it comes with a 2GB microSD card, in addition to flash memory, 120MB free

A mobile-optimized for social networks
In addition to an autofocus camera of 3 megapixels, the GT540 shoots in VGA quality. It includes an FM radio and an audio / video player compatible with DivX and WMV. Beyond its operating system Android 1.6 (with an update to 2.1 expected by fall), the GT540 has a wrapper that provides the manufacturer including improvements in social networks. It is possible to merge its contacts and Facebook friends (Twitter and Bebo as well) in the same directory, in whole or in individual cases. September customizable home screens are also made available to the user who may, in addition, sort the downloaded applications into different categories.

Second LG Android device, the GT540 is distinguished from its predecessor, the GW620, its lack of hardware keyboard. One-piece format, the motive is, in fact, 100% touch. If her screen, resistive and therefore not compatible multicast is not among the largest on the market (7.6 inches diagonal), it nevertheless display a QWERTY keyboard in landscape mode. From a design close to the famous Viewty (KU990) with its “sharp curves” (dixit LG), the unit attracted by its elegant shell, brushed metal way (but plastic).

Available at a price of 300 euros naked, LG GT540 will be offered by leading network operators from 9 euro, subject to a subscription. The unit should also be offered at modest prices with packages blocked.
