How would you think if the next TV you buy will not have a HDMI port for high-quality sound and picture but a simple RJ-45 port, identical to that used to connect your computers to the router and surf the Internet? This trying to achieve in the last six months four major technology companies: the Sony Pictures Entertainment, the Valens Semiconductor, Samsung and LG. Together form the HDBaseT Alliance, who, evidently, takes its name from this new technology: the HDBaseT.

The aim of HDBaseT to replace in the future HDMI currently used for transporting high-definition picture and sound quality without the drawbacks of HDMI. An example of this is the maximum distance the cable, which now can reach up to 100 meters. This technology replaces the traditional HDMI ports with simple RJ-45, such as those used to create a LAN network, eliminating the expensive HDMI cables, thus dropping the cost of the whole installation.

Within the year that we are expected to make their appearance in the first products to use this new technology, with an even more widespread from 2011 onwards.
